is Plant a good source of Protein?
Plant protein powders can be a great addition to a healthy diet, especially for those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, or for those who have a sensitivity or allergy to animal-based proteins. Plant protein powders offer a variety of benefits, including:
-
Rich in Nutrients: Plant-based protein powders are often rich in nutrients such as fiber, antioxidants, and minerals that are important for overall health and wellness.
- Easily Digestible: Plant protein powders are often easier to digest than animal-based protein powders
-
Sustainable: Plant-based protein powders are often more sustainable and environmentally friendly than animal-based protein powders, as they require less water and resources to produce.
-
Allergen-Friendly: Plant-based protein powders are a great alternative for individuals who have allergies or sensitivities to dairy-based proteins or other common allergens.
-
Versatile: Plant protein powders can be used in a variety of recipes, from smoothies and shakes to baked goods and snacks, making them a versatile ingredient in any diet.
That being said, it is important to choose a high-quality plant protein powder that is free from additives and artificial ingredients, THANKFULLY BBfL is FREE from all of that!
Although our Organic Grassfed Whey can be an excellent source of protein, we realize that "whey" is not suitable for individuals who are following a plant-based diet and/or have a dairy allergy.
Is Plant Protein a Complete Protein?
Plant protein powders, on the other hand, are derived from a variety of plant-based sources such as pea, brown rice, quinoa, and more. Plant protein powders are often rich in nutrients such as fiber, antioxidants, and minerals. They are also suitable for individuals who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet or have a dairy allergy. However, not all plant protein sources are complete proteins, meaning that they may not contain all of the essential amino acids. Thankfully, that's not the case for BBfL Plant Powders, because we made sure that all our Plant Protein Blends included a blend of plant proteins, so you would get all your amino acids.
Does BBfL Plant Based have and/or need Enzymes?
Enzymes can be added to plant protein powders to improve their digestibility and absorption. Plant proteins, such as pea protein and brown rice protein, can contain anti-nutrients such as phytic acid and lectins, which can interfere with nutrient absorption and cause digestive discomfort in some individuals. Therefore, we chose to add 50mg of Digestive Enzymes that are all plant sourced from papaya and microbial only.
Enzymes such as protease, amylase, and cellulase can help to break down these anti-nutrients and improve the bioavailability of nutrients in plant protein powders. By improving the digestibility of plant proteins, enzymes can also reduce digestive discomfort such as bloating or gas.
